Naughty List

So Todd might have redeemed himself a bit by coming to school for lunch on Friday, but I don’t think that’s enough to keep him off the naughty list when you consider the cruelty he has shown to his sweet wife.

Victoria likes to be read to. One of her favorite books is “Polar Bear,Polar Bear What do you Hear?” If you are not familiar with this favorite, it is a rhyming book that names the animals and their sounds.

Caroline, Todd’s wife, is French Canadian and her native language is French. Apart from her accent, you would not know that English was her 2nd language. She speaks beautiful English. (Certainly better than Todd’s French!!!) However, she has learned a lot of English since she and Todd have been together. Therefore, he has had a large responsibility for her speaking correctly or incorrectly.

For the most part he has done well, but being the prankster that he is, he has messed with her, as well.

For example, the first time Caro came to GA, she asked us how you say “itch”. Todd had told her to say “hitch”. As in , “scratch my arm. It hitches!” She had been saying Hitch for months!

Yesterday Caro was reading Victoria’s book and Pop was listening. He hated to interrupt, but Caroline just kept mispronouncing the animals. Here is what Todd had told her to say for each animal:

Leopard- Todd told Caro to call it Leo (as in Decapprio) Pard (rhymes with Shard)

Then Todd told her to call the Boa Constrictor a Boa Contractor (as in one who builds a house)

Lastly, and the biggest reason he will get coal for Christmas is this: Hippopotamus

HE has her saying Hippo Pa (as if you were blowing smoke) Tamus (same A sound as in mammoth)

Poor Caroline! She has live with this nut! She is the best wife and mother and Todd treats her like this. I guess she knew this was his personality when she married him. I HOPE that her family has taught Todd improper French.

Again, this is not making fun of Caro’s English- she speaks perfectly when Todd doesn’t trip her up. This is to paint a picture of the foolishness that Todd stirs up.
