Holiday Ham

I have been making this ham for the last 5 or 6 years and my family really likes it. I call it Christmas Ham, but I planning to link up with Kimba at A Soft Place to Land On Tuesday’s DIY day and since it would be AFTER Christmas at that point, I’m calling it Holiday Ham. Call it what you want- it’s good.

1 ham- I don’t know what size- a ham is a ham to me. spiral sliced is best, but not mandatory. Pre smoked or cooked is fine. Again, a ham is a ham.

1 small bottle of mustard

1 bottle of honey

sugar- a bunch (I’m using brown sugar this year because I’m low on white sugar and the convenience store wanted $5.09 for a bag of SUGAR!)

1 can of Orange Juice concentrate- thawed

Slice the ham if it’s not spiral sliced. I use an electric knife. I cut ALMOST all the way through, but not quite. Take aluminum foil and place across bottom of pan. leave enough excess foil that you can pull up and FULLY cover the ham. The more foil, the better. Place the ham on the foil…I use an aluminum pan, cause it’s one less thing to wash after the meal. (and because my husband bought 25 aluminum pans at Sam’s once when we were in Hilton Head and needed 1 {just 1} pan!) cover with honey, mustard, and OJ. Just slather it all on. Get it down in the grooves. Then cover with sugar…I mean COVER. Then wrap up the foil so that the ham is fully covered. Then, cook on 250 for 9 hours. Note: This year I’m cooking it overnight for 6  hours. I THINK this will be long enough, if not, I will have time in the morning to finish it. The last 1 was a bit overcooked at 9 hours. I like this because it’s easy to prepare and it cooks overnight. No taking up space in the oven for this ham.

Leave me a comment if you try it. I think Kim if the only one who tries my recipes. She has tried several and is still coming back for more, so the rest of you should join her.

Now, I have to go clean the honey off my computer keys…I just finished preparing my ham.

Merry Christmas!
