Down on the Farm

We headed out to Aunt Carol and Uncle Joe’s farm today. Their neighbors joined us for lots of food and dove hunting.

Jenna had quite a “class” to play school with.

The dove hunt was a success. I think 60 birds were killed between 6 or 7 guys. Jeff shot the limit and was HAPPY with that. The birds are cleaned and in the freezer now.

The kids played in the feathers…quite gross, I know….but they had fun…and washed their hands. (I think???!!)

Their neighbor, Michael, got his first gun as a Christmas present just yesterday. Uncle Joe helped his wife pick it out.

After the dove shoot Uncle Joe took Michael to sight in his gun and then for a quick deer hunt. Within 25 minutes we got a call that Michael had killed a 125 class deer.

Talk about beginner’s luck!!!!

Sorry for those of you who don’t like dead animal pictures. It’s just a part of our lives here in the south and in the country. All meat will be used and we don’t waste.

I overheard Michael ask Uncle Joe, “so what’s so hard about that?” He was kidding of course, but I don’t think he really understands just how lucky he really was. I mean some people faithfully hunt a lifetime and don’t get a 125 class!

It was a super fun day. Thanks to AC and UJ for hosting us.
