After much deliberation, we held Jade’s party at a local bounce house place. The past 2 years we have had family cookouts at home for her birthday. Ya know, it is Memorial Day weekend, UC’s birthday, and always a beautiful weekend here in GA. We had made plans to borrow a big waterslide for the kids, cook some food, and let them swim. Then it hit me, if Jade got invited to a swimming party for a friend, I would be MAD! It would mean that I would have to swim, too. That did NOT sound fair to me. We looked at the cost of the food for the backyard affair, and found that it was cheaper and easier to rent The Air Fair. There will be many years for swimming parties in the future.
I called The Air Fair about a month ago. (2 different numbers; I called both) I also emailed the lady. I did get an email reply that stated the date/ time I wanted was available. To THIS DAY she has not confirmed the party with me. I asked about deposits, how many kids, etc.…nothing. Poorest communication ever! (In my opinion, of course.) She did leave me a voicemail one day that said the reason she was not returning my calls was because she emailed me that first day to let me know that the time was available. Uhm, I have questions, lady. What about deposit? What about # of kids? Who calls just to say they are NOT returning calls.
To say that I was nervous driving to the party is an understatement. I was praying we would not arrive to locked doors. We arrived 30 min early as the website informed us to do. The sweetest young girl was there (not the owner), and she was helpful. The doors were unlocked- SCORE. Once in the door the problem was noticed. It was 92 degrees in this metal building! 92 inside- where I have INVITED kids to come and jump. I let Jeff handle this part. The girl had just arrived and turned on the three units. She did have them set to 70. It did cool some, but it was never comfy. Excuse me, I think paying $100 per hour is quite enough that my guests should not have to sweat!!! (yes, I know the kids will sweat when jumping, but they didn’t even want to jump it was so hot.) Good thing I brought extra drinks- we needed it!
Now for the fun part. Aside from the heat, the party was a lot of fun. Jade had the perfect amount of guests. It was calm and fairly quiet, but the kids had fun.
Friday afternoon I made 50 cupcakes. I made strawberry cupcakes with strawberry icing. The reason I chose this combo was strictly to match the pink Minnie Mouse theme of the party. I made another batch of rainbow cupcakes. They were so cute!
You take a regular cake mix. ( I used yellow, but white makes the colors more vibrant.) You mix the batter and then divide it into as many bowls as you have food colors. I mixed colors and had 7 batter bowls. Note: The batch may not make as many cupcakes since you have waste in 7 bowls rather than in just the one mixing bowl. You take a small spoon and drip a little of each color into each cupcake wrapper. Continue until you get the wrapper 2/3 full.
The big 3 year old. AMS gave her this cute outfit!
Jade had a ball jumping and running.
Jenna and Brooklyn had matching shirts that B’s mom bought them. So cute.
Elin couldn’t jump just yet, but she did enjoy a cupcake and some sit/bounce time.
.Sweet Miley came in asleep
August enjoyed the fun- can you tell?
Here are some gift pics that are out of order. Sorry. This was the first year that Jade really got presents. She fully understood.
It was great to see Robyn and Bryn. I always try to snag a picture of the sisters. So pretty!
After lots of jumping and sweating, we did cake and food. (and sang!)
Elin enjoyed her cupcake a lot!
Jade got some fun presents, and most of all had fun with her friends and family. Many thanks to those who came. The party was a success even it was hot!
MeMe and Pappy- We missed you. Hope you feel better soon, MeMe. We love you!
