Tonight was open house at our school. Since we are in a new school there were a lot of nervous students and parents. We got a lot of compliments on how great the building looks and how nice it will be upon actual completion.
The evening went off without a hitch except for one minor thing: One father came in and made himself quite comfy in my classroom. He kicked back in a chair and began chatting with me. I basically ignored him and continued talking to his child. At one point he lifts his shirt baring his big, bulging, hairy belly and proceeded to scratch it. Yes, he bared his gut and scratched- in my BRAND NEW classroom. He reminded me of Al Bundy only MUCH larger and more redneck. Believe it or not I kept my composure. A student who I taught last year was also in my room visiting and witnessed the entire episode. When the family left, the former student said, “Mrs. Mullis, How did you keep a straight face?! I can tell you are a teacher..you just kept right on with business.” What was I to do? I mean should I have said, “Excuse me sir, no shirt; no service.” ? I swear: I couldn’t make this up.
Check Two Fact Chicks blog later today. MAry Ann plans to blog about her encounter with a horse at Wal Mart. Couldn’t make that one up either…
As I sit blogging we are all watching the USC v NC ST came. It’s the kick off to the SEC season. As of now it’s 7-0 and we are happy football fans.
Took a few pictures tonight. (excuse Jen’s wet head. She had taken a shower after her first cheerleading practice tonight.)
I won’t tell you what Jeff did that made Jenna crack up in this picture, but it rhymes with “parted”.
Gonna rest tonight and be ready for another day of work tomorrow. Seth is coming to visit tomorrow and plans to stay the weekend. We will enjoy the UGA game on Saturday. I have some house cleaning and wardrobe Etc preparation to do to prepare for the first week of school. Outta be fun! Getting back into the groove is not exactly easy.
We have “meet the teacher” at Jenna’s new school tomorrow. She is excited and I am VERY happy with her teacher.
Oh, and just for kicks I will tell all of you bloggies that Jeff cut the tip of his finger off last night. Did it on The Pampered Chef mandolin trying to cut some zucchini. No stictches, but LOTS of blood. He has been beat up enough!!! Poor Jeff, he doesn’t deserve all of this!

I think Jeff needs a vacation..remember bad things happen in threes...that is the last of it for Jeff.
You are right, you can't make this kind of stuff up. My open house was not nearly as interesting and entertaining as yours.
