So, I know I have been away for a couple of days. I warned you that I had a busy week, and boy did I ever. In fact, I ended up doing more than I had planned.
Thursday, after work, I had to head down to the cafeteria and help with the BETA Spaghetti Supper. We are fortunate to have Mary Ann, an Italian Culinary Arts grad, as a friend. She made some AWESOME spaghetti. It was a great meal for a mere $6! This was a fund raiser for the Kentucky trip this summer. (You know I love a good trip!)
I found myself making 8 lunchroom sized pans of Banana Pudding and then serving plates. I enjoy this kind of project, but they are hectic. AMS did a great job putting it together. We have great kids and parents, too! (OK, and fellow teachers- Gloria, Mary Ann, April….)
After the supper, I headed to another supper. This was a celebration at our church for Maundy Thursday. I must admit, I had never heard of Maundy Thursday. I could easily figure that it was a celebration of The Last Supper. I went to Wikipedia, and found that I was right. It is a date on the church calendar that I had just never heard of. Maundy is a Latin word for “Command”. It is thought that the name came from the fact that Jesus gave his big commandment on love at the Last Supper.
Our pastor did a sweet service. He had two tables set up in the front of the church with 12 chairs each and 1 chair on the ends of each table. We celebrated at sundown and with candles. We had 12 people sit at each table (we had to do it in shifts) and we left the end chair empty. We did a communion. It was so sweet and I learned a lot!
I sat in front of a lady who is spending her first Easter outside of prison. She was in prison for about 2 years and was saved while in jail awaiting transfer. We have a couple of ladies in our church who do a local prison ministry. It was awesome to sit next to Pam. She was particularly grateful and overwhelmed at the fact that Jesus died for her sins. He died for ALL of our sins.
Friday, whew- Friday before Spring Break! It’s always a tough day at school. I survived and thrived, even.
We have some friends who are moving from Milledgeville to Eatonton. They are first time home buyers and are moving this weekend. Jeff had offered to help them move on Saturday morning. Brilliant me suggested that we call on Friday evening and see of they wanted to get a head start. It turned out to be a great idea.
We loaded this huge trailer, the truck, and 2 SUVs, and STILL did not get finished. We stopped to have Mexican for dinner and went back to working. We came home at 10:30. Jade hung in there with us and was great. Jenna has gone to Justin’s since we will be at beach all week.
They have a 1 year old (2 days younger that Pout Pout), Peyton. He is so cute- looks like his mama- and is SO CLOSE to walking. he was a trooper through the move, too.
Jeff is headed for another load this morning. He should be finished soon. Mark and Holly have a lot of family to help them, too. I am so excited for them. Holly has chosen to stay home to raise children, so they are living on Mark’s teaching salary. They have worked hard to be able to buy this home. This is a dream for them and I think it’s great! They bought a 5 bedroom, 3 bath, 1900 sf split level house. It is so cute and just perfect. I am glad that they chose to live in Eatonton.
The weather is BEAUTIFUL! I hope to get outside some today. Maybe Jade and I can get in a walk. I have to pack for the beach today. Oh, and Jade has no shoes for Easter. I think I should get on that. I did not buy Easter dresses. Jade has a hand me down from Bryn that will work. Jenna bought a dress with her bday money. I am not a HUGE fan of it, but she loves it and she will be beautiful. We are leaving straight from church for the beach.
Jeff will be home all week by himself. I hope he enjoys being able to do whatever he wants. He deserves a break. About the time we come home from the beach, he will leave for the Walk to Emmaus. We will not see him for 7 days! That is the longest that any of us has been apart. He asked us to wait and leave for the beach on Tuesday, but that is too much packing for a shirt trip.
I have a camera card now, so the pics should flow again.
Enjoy the Holy Weekend- It’s almost SUNDAY!

Here is a little history fact about Maundy-Thursday...
The Holy Thursday liturgy, celebrated in the evening because Passover began at sundown, also shows both the worth God ascribes to the humility of service, and the need for cleansing with water (a symbol of baptism) in the Mandatum, or washing in Jesus' washing the feet of His disciples, and in the priest's stripping and washing of the altar. Cleansing, in fact, gave this day of Holy Week the name Maundy Thursday.
In the Catholic Church the Bishops washes the feet of 12 priests to symbolize Jesus washing the feet of the 12 Disciples.
