Knot a Scarf

I have now made 3 of these this weekend. 2 were given as bday gifts for Jenna’s friends and one is yet to be claimed.

These are cutest, easiest, cheapest scarves ever. I saw a student of mine wearing one and I scoped it out for the details. I knew  that I could make one.

Materials:

1/3 yard each of 2 fleece fabrics

sewing machine and thread

cutting mat and rotary cutter or scissors

You can choose any fleece you want. My student’s was red on one side and black on the other. You can do 2 solids or 1 solid and 1 print or 2 prints. I prefer 1 solid and 1 print because I like the busy-ness of the print and the cheapness of the solid. (prints are 7.44/ yard and solids are 4.44/ yard)

Cut each piece 12 inches by WOF (width of fabric). Most fabric is 45 inches wide.

Lay the two pieces on top of each other and sew down the length of fabrics. I choose a ladder or swirly stitch so that it’s a little more sturdy.

After you have sewn the entire length of the fabric, cut the fabric in 1.5 inch strips stopping just before the stitches. You will have to cut on each side. Don’t get picky about the width of the slices. It will all come out in the wash knots.

When you get finished cutting your scarf will look like mine below. It’s technically cute enough here….

But I take each cut and double knit it. Tie one print to one solid…go all the way up side and then down the other side.

When you finish you have the cutest scarf ever.

Doesn’t my model look THRILLED. (she thought I was only photographing the scarf and not her face. I THOUGHT she knew…oops.)

This model likes it a little better.

Best I can figure each scarf costs around $3- $4 to make.

I have already gotten a call from Ryleigh’s mom wanting to make some for Christmas. She thought they were very cute! (made me feel so talented!)

That does look pretty simple! I'm not sure if I could find anyone as cute to give one to though :).
