Fighting Summertime Boredom

As much as I LOVE summer, boredom is a factor. Well, I don’t get bored, but the kids do. We were SO busy the first two weeks of summer with chrysalis, errands, Bible school, and summer work days that I made plans for this week to be a NO PLANS week!

It was only lunch time on MONDAY when the kids started saying, “I’m Bored!” Ugh! To help keep me at home and not tempted to run to town for any reason, I kept Jade in her PJs. Smart, huh? With the price of gas so high, it is easy to blow the gas budget on just a few extra trips to town. Another smart move I made is not giving Jade her bday presents all at once. I put several toys upstairs and she can only play with them with my supervision. Jenna was so sweet to get out a couple of them to help her play.

 

Grandmama and Papa gave Jade this paint set for her bday. It is finger-paint that only paints on this special paper. Jenna put her garden club apron on Jade as a smock. Cute, huh? They painted a beautiful picture that is proudly hung on the front of the fridge right now.

This paint set was a big hit, and will be used a bunch this summer. Whoop!

As soon as they finished painting, Jenna pulled out a Hello Kitty paper/ sticker/ pen set that Robyn and Bryn gave Jade for her bday. Jade LOVED it! She created a cute little sticker that is also hung on the fridge.

As much as these girls fight, I appreciate Jenna being such a sweet big sister, and playing with Jade.

Yesterday, we went to town for a dentist appt for me. It was just a cleaning, and I took the girls with me. Jenna packed a bag of quiet toys, but it only worked partially. Jade was less than perfect, but not terrible.

My friend Dena was in town yesterday and she came for a couple of hours. I can not believe that I did not take a pic with  her. It never crossed my mind. Terrible blogger, I am! It was so good to see her. I have missed her.

Today we are staying home again. Jade is in her PJs, and the only thing on the agenda is a little swim. I LOVE summer.
