There are 3 big awards for each cohort and we knew that Tori was elogible for all 3. Dr. Bauer told me ahead of time that she won two of the three and was up for the 3rd, too, but since it was moe subjective, they were able to give it to another outstanding cohort.
Tori won Highest Academic Award (Highest GPA) and “Homecoming Queen” (That was her name for it.) I think it was actually called Outstanding Cohort Member. Anyway, the cohort voted for the best, and she was it, of course. The one that they gave to another girl was Outstanding Major.
At the end of awards the did a Rite of Passage from student to colleague. The students came out of the chapel holding candles. They passed their cohort mentor and lit a candle from his/her light.
Then they recited their educational motto/ beliefs…something long that they promised to always do. It was a sweet service.
I am so proud of Tori. It was an honor to be a part of this special night.
