Decorating for Christmas

Edited: I am linking this with some Linky parties. PLease click here for a SUPER FUN Christmas giveaway. Hurry, it ends this Friday!

I know it is early, perhaps too early, to decorate for Christmas, but I learned many years ago to get this part of Christmas OUT OF THE WAY! I do not enjoy decorating, but I do enjoy the decorations. I LOVE Christmas, but all the work that comes with it is for the birds! So, I do it early so that I can enjoy the fun stuff.

Yes, those are real presents. I started in September and except for a few kids' gifts, we are finished. We only buy for a few people anyway.

I am not very happy with the mantle this year. I love the village that the girls have, but I dislike putting it out and putiing it up. I have couple of bulbs to replace. Grr!
Our big tree has been done in apple green for like 9 years. I decided it was time for a change and so I changed to red accentls. I really like it!

Do you think our girls have enough Christmas books?

Jenna made this can in 2nd grade. I plan to put this year's Christmas cards in it. I keep the older picture cards in a basket under the big tree.

Another view of the pitiful mantle. I usually do a better job.

Last year our tree was SO full of ornaments. I realized that Jenna and Jade needed tehir own trees. I broke out of my traditional mold and went with white trees with colored lights. (SCANDALOUS!)
Above is Jenna's. I went with lime green and zebra print. (Her fav) It is covered with all of her ornaments that she has been given and that she has made. I like her tree a lot.

We have started the countdown. I wish this said, "Countdown to Christmas" instead.

The Fitz and Floyd cookie jar is a favorite of mine.

This is a cute Hallmark countdown. The little do-dads are magnets that stick to the felt. There is a pocket in the back for when you take them down.

The buffet is where a lot of the village went. Again, I feel like it looks pitiful. I don't have a power strip, so nothing is plugged in, yet. Oh well, the hard part is done.

Jade's tree is to the right of the mantle. I'm not sure where my close up pic of it went. I am not as happy with her tree. I did hers in pink, purple, and a little black.
Jeff will do the outside of the house after Thanksgiving. I don't like for outside decorations to be up until Thanksgiving. I don't want other people to feel rushed to celebrate Christmas. I start early for my sanity only.

On another note, please pray that someone will step up at church and take over the Christmas play for the children. I have helped with it for a LOT of years. (like before Jenna was born) The pastor's wife has always done the music. Her children are well out of college and last year she asked to retire from the program. I assured her that she would NOT have to do it again. (She has certainly done her time.) I did not promise that I would do it, but I figured I would find someone. Well, it's time to start the play and I haven't found anyone. It is VERY CLEAR to me that I do not have time to lead this. In fact, I'm not sure I even want to put my kids in it. We have SO much to do and I want to be home and enjoy my family some! We announced for help last week at church and no one stepped forward, YET. Please pray that someone comes willingly. At this point, if I don't do it, the pastor's wife will have to, and that makes me sad and stressed.

My prayer is that you do not weaken to take the lead. You know when you have too much on your plate!! Family comes first, enjoy!
