STAYcation

Jeff's company is ALWAYS off the week of the 4th. This is typically one of the weeks that we spend in Hilton Head. That was also the plan for this year. We had the condo arranged and were all set to spend Sat through Tues or Wed there. Last week, Jeff decided that it was not wise for us to go this year. While I was sad that we would not get to see MeMe and Pappy (and the beach), I was relieved that I didn't have to repack everything for us to go. Todd, Caro, and Victoria are also coming in today, so that meant more time with them. Maybe we can go to the beach later this month.

SO, that means we are taking a STAYcation right at home. Since SO many Gulf beaches are icky with oil, many vacationers are making do with the condo or hotel pools. We have a pool right at home, so we are making the best of it. We have had a few friends to visit and hope to have many more as the week passes.

Here are a couple of pics from Walker’s party last Wednesday. It was at the movie theater. We saw Toy Story 3 and that was TIRING with Jade!

 

We began our STAYcation at First Friday. The kids, as usual, had a ball on the slides and lawn. The band was good and the company was even better. We have been meeting some new friends there for the last couple of times and have really enjoyed them. We had dinner at Mexican afterwards. That’s always hard to beat.

Yesterday, we hosted an impromptu swim gathering with a few friends and family. We all had lots of fun and swam a lot. I hope to do this a few more times this week.

Last night we celebrated with our friend Bruce. If you look back on the blog to last July 3 I blogged about his birthday and mention that NEXT year we would be celebrating his 40th. Well, NEXT year is NOW and he turned 40! Jennifer gathered a few friends for swimming, poker, and fajita nachos. Wow, we had a good time! I was a BAD blogger and took no pictures the entire night. I didn’t even take a camera! (Ok, so it was a SWIM party and I didn’t take a swimsuit for anyone EITHER! Ha! Miss Brenda gave the girls a suit and all was well with the world.)

Today we attended church and then Jenna went with Nonni to get Todd and Caro. They should be arriving in ATL around 3:30. Jade has been napping, Jeff cut the grass, and I have been sunning, swimming, and reading.

STAYcation is proving to be an ok idea. The weather has certainly cooperated. It has cooled off and is much more tolerable. Yippee!!
