Today was Jenna’s Honor’s Day Celebration in her classroom.
Before I start in picture overload with Jenna, here is a shot of Jade Helping Jeff pay bills.
I tried to take pics of everyone in her class so that Jenna can remember them for the future.
The class started out by reciting 3 very cute poems from memory.
The Carysta welcomed us to the ceremony. Jenna is going to Carysta’s to play tomorrow afternoon. Her parents went to birth class with us when I was pregnant with Jenna.
Then Jayda welcomed us to the first play. Jenna was the narrator.
The play was “The Emperor's New Hair”
Then, Ryleigh and many others were in Spiderella. (Cinderella spin off)
Lastly, Amanee and others were hilarious in a play about rapping animals.
Then came the awards. Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Slappey had a great class and so many awards. I have photographed all of her awards at the bottom. This may not interest you, but I documented it for our memories, so bare with us.
She got the Life Saver Award for being the teachers’ helper.
Reading Award for being in the Eager Eaglet Reading Club
A trophy, medal, and certificate for passing 2nd grade
The 220 Club which means she knows all 220 basic sight words. She probably would have gotten this in Kindergarten or early 1st grade, but she was not at this school then. Oh well, just an extra award for now.
Citizenship Award- I was really proud of this one. No matter your academics, you can always behave. (Since this award she has pouted in the car and then shoved Jade: way to go Miss Citizenship)
DIBELS is a test that they take periodically to measure how many words per minute they can read and comprehend. She had the highest score in her class with 223 WPM. Yay!
She also had the greatest gain in DIBELS. She started the year at 145 WPM and ended with 223. Several kids in her class ENDED the year at 147 and were celebrated, to put this in perspective for you in case you don’t know what 223 WPM means.
A Honor Roll for the year
3rd Highest Average in Language Arts with a 98.5 for the year
2nd Highest Average in Reading with a 99
The Leader Award for being a great Role Model
and a sweet poem from her teachers.
In her bookbag, she had a packet where each child wrote what they think of Jenna. It is SO sweet. RYleigh wrote, “ You will always be my BFF! U R SO Pretty! <3 yah!”
And Honor Roll for 4th 9 weeks.
We are so proud of Jenna! Way to go! She is super smart and well behaved at school. What a blessing! 2nd Grade has been an awesome year and I hate to see it end.
She has had the most awesome teachers. Sure wish they could go to 3rd grade with us.
