I know that my blogging has been less that normal, but you can’t say I didn’t warn you. Here is my theory: For the last 6-7 weeks we have been super busy. We have been so busy that Jeff and I barely have gotten to spend ANY time together. i have simply refused to communicate more through the blog than I have to my own husband. Call it crazy; I call it prioritizing.
We sat down and synched our schedules this morning and it SEEMS that we might be over the hump of busyness. Like most of working America, our jobs are super demanding right now. We are all asked to work more for less money and since we NEED our jobs (and are proud to have them), we do the work, even the EXTRA hours, take the pay cuts, and say THANK YOU for my job. It is NOT fun, but it is what it is.
Jeff has traveled AT least one night away from home each week for several months now. It has not been a big deal until recently when we have all been so busy. These trips are not fun trips, either. He leaves around 3am, drives to the job, works ALL day (rarely a lunch), drives to a hotel around 9pm IF he’s lucky, gets a shower, grabs a bite to eat at Waffle House or Applebee's (all that's open that late) and crashes. (only to do it again the next day and then drive home!)
My job seems to require more and more after hours, as well. We usually spend MAYBE 5 nights a year at school for various parent’s night, etc. Now, it is more like 2-3 nights a month. That’s a HUGE increase. (and that does not include attending ballgames or fun activities that you CHOOSE to attend.)
Again, the extra hours for BOTH of us have come with nice pay CUTS, too. BUT, we still are so thankful for our jobs, so we continue right along. I am very thankful for a job I love, in fact!
Thursday at daycare, Jade was invited to a younger classroom to celebrate sweet August’s birthday. I can not believe that he is already one and that his sister will be here in just a couple of weeks. can’t wait to meet Miss EBL.
Here are a couple of pics from Relay for Life. I don’t know why I don’t have pics of Jenna. (could be because she was too cool to hang around with her parents.)
Here is the picture I was trying to post the other day of Jade looking out the window at her daddy. I would have a somewhat current blog if I could find an iphone app that actually WORKED for blogging pictures. (Anyone?)
A few weeks ago we found out that because we are working longer school days that our school year was going to be too long by about 5 days. We had 1 snow day earlier, so what to do about the other 4 days? TAKE THEM OFF! We shortened the school year by 2 days and got Friday and Monday off surrounding Mother’s Day. (That this weekend.) Lucky (ahem) for me, we already had a field trip planned for this Friday and it could not be rescheduled. SO, I worked from 8am until 10:30pm ON MY DAY OFF! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! It was fun, though. We took a group of students to your the campus of UGA, explore downtown Athens, and then to a UGA Baseball game.
We normally have the college do a tour for us, but this year they were unavailable, so we did our own tour. (or the kids did the tour) Here we are at the famous Arches.
One bright spot was that Julie went and I got to spend the day with her.
College campuses always have promotions going on. Yesterday, Mountain Dew was there giving samples of a new flavor. After you drank the drink, you voted if you liked it on AN IPAD! Those are my fingers using it.
Took a pic of Curry casting her vote, too.
Of course, we took the kids to Sanford Stadium which was set up for graduation.
We let them shop in the bookstore and found that the bookstore has an Apple store, so we got to play with even more IPADS!
This is Hershel Walker’s Heisman. UGA has 2 Heisman trophies. Him winning this award is one of my earliest Bulldog memories. I can remember Walker breaking some record (maybe the one tebow broke this past season) and watching my mom run through the house screaming like a mad woman. It was ridiculous…..and it scared me, too.
In the Butts-Mere building (just say the name of this building a few times- TERRIBLE) there are lots of athletic offices. (Richt, the AD, etc) I found this office in a corner. Somehow, WAY DOWN THE LINE, he is some kin. His office was in such a corner that I am not even sure that his door can open all the way. Strange.
We then trotted over to Stegman Coliseum to rest in the AC and sit for a minute. They were set up for Graduate graduation. I love how the chairs are in PERFECT rows.
Then we went to the baseball field for a backstage tour. (ok, dugout and locker room tour, but backstage sounds better. ) As we approached this door, I was excited…..and then when the door opened, I was suddenly nauseated. There are NO words to describe the SMELL beyond this door. ick!
The players were in the locker room and the introduced themselves, gave autographs, and chatted with us.
This is their lounge room. It was not as big or as nice as I expected. The locker room leads right out into the dugout.
The kids played with the PowerAde machine. It was neat being in the dugout and on the field.
It was a very nice day, but I was tired.
Today we started with soccer, lunch, now it’s nap and lawn cutting hour, before we head to Conyers. We need to look for jade’s bday present, get diapers at Babies R Us, and Jeff wants to choose a Bible study at Lifeway.
Gotta go- Jeff just came in and he needs me to do something for him. SEE WHAT I MEAN!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
(and the times for jade’s bday party are wrong- gonna be 11-1 now. Have soccer game the same day. GRR)
