May Monday

Here is yet another Monday. Today has been rather good! We only have 1 more Monday in this school year. (Read: GOOD NEWS!) This has been a very hard year. I think starting a month late, the move, combined with regular school pressures have just made this a tough year. My test scores are good and the year is almost over, so WOOT WOOT!

Playing catch up here; Jade moved to the next class at her daycare. She is now in the 2 year old room and that means she is on the BIG hall and on the BIG playground. Here are a few pics from her first day.

Jenna and I were able to go to her school for a while that day because I was called to pick up Jenna from school with an earache. I was SURE it was swimmers ear, but instead it was a nasty inner ear infection. We have HUGE antibiotic capsules now.

On Friday, Jenna’s gifted class went to Macon to the Children’s Museum to learn about Japan. I went with them. They had been learning about Japan and the museum did a great job expanding their knowledge.

They learned calligraphy and got to practice.

Then they got to do a tea ceremony. The guy (who did NOT look like a kid kinda guy) did an EXCELLENT job with them. I highly recommend this museum to kids 2-10.

Not sure what the attitude here was about….

After the museum, we had lunch at a Japanese restaurant. (Now you know the REAL reason I went.) Of course, it was yummy!

Funny thing happened on the morning of the trip. We all got to school and were waiting in the classroom for the bus. A HUGE, NASTY storm brewed up and the principal called down to the room and CANCELLED the trip. You can’t even imagine the LONG faces that the children had. I opened up my Accuweather app on my iphone and brought up a live radar. The storm was clearly above out traveling route and would soon be above the school. when the principal came in to talk to the kids, I showed her the phone and she LET US GO! Yay for the iphone!

Soccer was Saturday and again, we won. It was actually ugly at 9-0. The good news that is that we are playing the coach that beat us mercilessly in basketball season. The bad news is that it is not the same players and we know how bad it is to lose week after week. Jeff is doing a good job coaching.

Tonight, Jeff is grilling and we are gearing up for Jade’s party on Saturday. Should be lots of fun.
