It’s a Party!

Yesterday we celebrated with friends and family as Jade turned 2! Shortly after the party began, she realized that maybe there really was something to celebrate- HER! She got really wound up and excited!

 

I had her dress made. (sort of) I bought the Gap dress for $1.50 at a consignment shop in Hilton Head. I planned to appliqué it and my machine will do it, but it would have taken me well over an uninterrupted hour. This just DOESN’T happen in the month of May. so I had my friend, Aneka, do it for me. Love it! (But wish I had chosen zebra print.)

 

 

I love this picture. It’s like she knew this cake was hers. She kept saying, “eat, eat”.

The cake was red velvet on the bottom and yellow cake on top. It was yummy and looked SO cute. Yes, I messed up her name with the box, but I did get a pic before I did that. Oh well.

 

I remember that when Jenna turned 2 her FAVORITE gift was a bubble gun. I picked one out for the Macs to get Jade and when they came in with her gifts, she immediately ripped into the bag with the bubbles, yelling, “BUBBLES”! There was no stopping her. She LOVED this gift.

 

Nonni and Pop brought her this Pottery Barn Kids vanity set. It is SOOO cute and nice. We don’t pay PBK prices, but their neighbor ordered it, it had a broken piece, so she gave it to Pop to fix. SCORE! (and I can’t even tell where it was broken)

 

We served a light lunch of sub sandwiches, deviled eggs, chips, and strawberries. Thanks Nonni for helping with the food. It really came in handy and saved the day considering we had a soccer game the hour before the party.

 

I didn’t count, but we had a little over 20 family and friends. I have no pics of AC because she was sick and spent most of her time upstairs in bed. I hope she is feeling better today.

 

 

Told you she LOVED this gift.

 

 

I hated taking this cake apart, but the whole point was to eat it….and eat it we did!

 

So thankful for my friends Jennifer and Bruce and their 3 kids. Bruce said the blessing and he did a fabulous job.

 

Present time came and it got loud, FAST! Jade got so many clothes, toys, and money. Blessed!

 

This little ball was another favorite.

 

She got Pull Ups and training pants. Oh the fun!

 

MeMe and Pappy brought this BIG box. Jade was not exactly sure that it was a gift at first. Inside was a cool playhouse. Of course, Jeff had to put it together. :)

 

It was good to see Aunt Bonnie.

 

Julie, Ry, and Curry gave Jade puzzles, books, and a music set. THANKS for the LOUD music set, Julie. she LOVES it!

 

After presents the kids hit the pool. Pappy, Nonni, and Justin took over duty for watching the kids.

did this….It didn’t seem too hard, but he did have several extra pieces. :)

 

Little Tykes makes such good quality stuff. we already had this slide play set from when Jenna was young. It was a hand me down from a family that has kids who are now in high school. sadly, as Jeff was finished the new playhouse, the slide broke and had to be thrown away. I would say that 17 years is a LONG time for a toy to survive in the blazing sun. The new playhouse arrived JUST in time because Jade has already started loving the slide. Now she has a replacement.

Jade went in and took a nap and when she awoke she came outside to see her new playhouse. she was SO excited. I don’t think she realized that it is for her. ALL of the kids wanted to play in it she was a bit overwhelmed.

Ryleigh LOVES Jade and it so sweet with her. You may have also noticed that Brenlyn Morris was in a bunch of these pics with jade. She is a natural little mother.

 

We were so thankful to have Pappy come for the party. MeMe could not come. They run a condo complex and it is almost impossible to get away together. someone has to work. Jade being born at Memorial Day does not help this situation. We missed MeMe, but were thrilled that Pappy got to come and spend the night. He also took us to a yummy Japanese dinner Friday night. Wish he could have stayed longer.

I think Bryn liked the playhouse, too. She ended up swimming a LOT and got very comfy with the water. She wears a life jacket still and I told her she had to toss that thing. she is around too much water and needs to learn to swim. She frowned at me when I said that! I have to work with Jade this summer, too. I really need to put Jenna in swim lessons. she swims like a fish, but has never been taught the strokes. Shame!

Before  you think we allow horseplay at the pool, this next shot was planned. (still fun!) Jenna went home with Ry and spent the night with her. We will get her after church sometime.

 

We had a trash bag filled with the tissue paper from gifts. Jade took it into the laundry room and loaded  the washer with it. She closed the door and pressed buttons. Fortunately, Julie was with her and was able to make sure we didn’t wash a load of tissue. Can you imagine?! I don’t know what Jade was thinking. I was so glad that Julie came. she had dinner with us, too. Love her!

 

And here is another reason we celebrated. Anthony and Ashley are engaged. We are so happy for them and her ring is lovely! Can’t wait for the big day!!! They left rather early because AC was so sick.

In the late evening Jen, Julie, and I went to a bridal shower for a coworker and then all went to Mexican. Jeff and I picked up a couple of rental movies. We watched Julie and Julia and it was SO slow. Jeff said it was a test to our marriage and he was proud we survived. Ha! We also rented Avatar and will probably watch it tonight. I’m not sure about it either.

After church I am headed over to take pics of Baby Elin. I will post pics tonight if all goes well. I took August’s when he was just a few days old, too.

Too bad I have to work tomorrow. School is not out on Mem Day this year, BOO! JEff is off and Jade is off….They have all the fun! :(
